SALTWATER

Just meters from the ever-changing sands of Wallabi Point Beach, Saltwater takes its colour cues from surf spray, driftwood, and beach stones translating them into white weatherboard, timber floors and joinery, as well as burnished concrete.

External penetrations in the façade are kept to a minimum to preserve privacy with internalized balcony/courtyards providing visual release as well as important cross flow breezes.

Internally, voids connect living spaces and provide a sense of largess in this compact plan for a 3-bedroom house with multiple living spaces, and study. Day beds and built-in study desks provide for a relaxation-home and work-from-home reality.

Positioning the garage back from the street serves the dual purpose of reducing the apparent mass of the building to the streetscape whilst providing an opportunity for a raised ocean viewing patio.

With Saltwater, care has been taken to replace a much loved but unfortunately no longer functional dwelling with a new home that opens itself up to views and captures the breeze yet still provides the shelter, privacy, and sense of place of its forbear.

Construction is underway, with expected completion in late 2024.
